Hi guys, I'm looking for some input on your experiences with gas-driven welders. I used to own a Lincoln with an 18HP Onan and regret selling it as it worked very well. Now I'm looking around and Lincoln seems quite pricey for their better machines. Anyone own a Hobart? They seem to be around 1k less than Lincoln for their better machines. Around 3,200.00 for Hobart as compared to around 4,300.00 for the Lincoln. I want an AC/DC machine with I minimum 200DC and 225AC output. A Quality engine like Onan or Kohler.(I don't know how good the Subaru engine is) Can you people share your experiences and thoughts on this subject please? Also, if you know where I can get the best prices online with free shipping I would appreciate. Thanks in advanve for the feedback!
Reply:If you want an actual Onan engine, you have to buy used.Onan is now owned by Robin which is a division of Subaru.CWI, CWE, CST for Miller, Lincoln, Thermadyne, Hypertherm & ESABMillermatic 350PLincoln Invertec 205 AC/DCVictor combo torchESAB PCM 1125
Reply:Thanks, it's been many years since I looked at equipment. What do you think of the Miller Bobcat225? Better than a Ranger by Lincoln?
Reply:The Ranger is the better, more useful welding machine compared to the Bobcat. Rangers and Trailblazers are comparable to each other. The difference between the Bobcat/Champion machines and the Trailblazer/Ranger machines is arc quality and multi-process capability. If you want a generator that can also stick weld, at a low price, choose the Hobart. If you want a generator that can also stick and wire feed weld with a volt-sensing feeder, choose the Bobcat. If you want a multi-process welding machine that can tig and remote mig and has good arc quality in all processes, choose the Trailblazer or Ranger.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
