Reply:I plan on adding a high freqency unit to the welder for TIG, so should I only be looking at Miller and Lincoln? If so, what is the best portable welder that I can get for under $3,500.00? Where can I find the best deals online if I can't get a good price locally? Also, what specific models should I be looking at?
Reply:Cyberweld for millerweldfabous for Lincolnfor 100 more you could have a Lincoln ranger 305g or a miller trailblazer275 dc. The miller would not meet you HF needs though.Buy online and you can avoid tax and almost always get free shippingon the machines.I'd avoid the Hobart and seriously get the 305g. It's got nice arc charachteristics and a full digital temp display. Vey nice machine.

Reply:Buying online always brings up some thoughts in my feeble mindYou might save a little.........okBUT...........When buying from your local welding supply you have some percs1. The freight damage is their problem2. Incomplete packages/units again their problem3. Customer support is a mega plus. There's someone to at when the thing quits working and still under warranty.4. Repairs after warranty are easier when you deal face to face with the dood who sold you the welder. He generally has a person he deals with who's reputable.5. And the dood's happy to see you again. (Unless you're like me). He wants to keep your business because he knows you'll be buying a LOTTA stuff over the years.6. If you're unfamiliar with the machine, or new to the whole thing, the LWS will be a very good source of info. All the above applies to a GOOOOOOOD LWS, I know there's some bad ones out there."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:You're right FarmerSam. I'm going to check out locally first. If he can match or beat online prices then it'll be worth the $250.00 in tax I have to spend. Shipping is around $80.00 online, so I spend $170.00 more I guess if my local dealer can match the price. Worth it in my opinion.
Reply:sorry sam ive bought my mm251 dynasty 200dxspectrum 375 30 a spoolgun victor torch setand more from cyberweld.com its shippedto my door for free and no tax i went to my lwsand ask if they could match the price NOand if you need repairs done a certifed millermiller repair shop will do the work (if under want.)because they get paid by miller just like a car want.infact they get paid more, if no want. you payfor repairs last time i went to my lws other thanfor gas i needed a victor rose bud it was $150i needed it that day if i coulded waited it wouldhave cost $65Last edited by ed mac; 05-06-2010 at 11:37 PM. |
