Reply:Very COOL and it must be very tedious! Thanks for sharing the pics. One day I'd like to set something up like that in my house. How long does it take you for an average size room?John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I am 35 and I had never seen those until about 5 years ago. They are awesome! The model home that I saw it in had a train tunnel that went through the wall and into the adjacent room! That was a neat set up.You must have people lined up to get one for their house at all times. Very cool stuff. Reply:Really cool stuff. I got my first train when I was 1. Haven't had room to put them together in a while. If I ever get the time I have the room now. So I'm kinda jealous cause you've got two passions going at once, welding and trains! Great stuff. Keep sending the pics. "Every choice you make will effect at least one other person"
Reply:Thats cool!! Member wog720 is HUGE into trains..He has a nice N-Scale set up in his cellar.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:You have the patients of a saint! That stuff is kind of small for my fat fingers.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:That's awesome, serious patience involved.

Reply:Man, that's really cool.  My son would go ballistic with a 'choo-choo' running around his room.  He's only 2 1/2 but he loves his GeoTrax trainsets.  Very intricate work with much attention to detail.
Reply:Very Cool!    I especially like the open sides and bottom.     About 7 years ago, I remodeled my son's bedroom to include corner cabinets and a shelf that runs the perimeter of the room.   Mounted on the shelf is an "O" scale Rail King.   The controls are wired into one of the corner cabinets.   There's an aluminum tressel (sp?) bridge spanning the one window.   I also have the train turn, go through the wall and run inside the closet and come out through the wall on the other side.      I'll see if I can take a few pictures and post them later today. There are no small projects
Reply:It's not metal working, unless you count the bridge over the window, but this is the train set up I built for my son's room.      All the casework, shelves and trim are scratch built.   And for those that noticed; Yes, the wainscotting is galvanized corrugated steel roofing. Reply:Very cool stuff you guys. I'd like to do that in my sons room, some great ideas!John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:AAMetalmaster what process are you using....MIG or TIG on that thing.  Looks great.  Gives me a few ideas (not interested in going into the business) but I 4 large O-gauge Lionel trains collecting dust that would be nice to have setup going around my sons room.  It would be nice to just to have a decent setup for the floor where you can keep all the track connected well.Very nice work.  I like it.  I bet you get really busy around Christmas.Michael
Reply:I have a Miller 185 mig i bought to build these things in 1999. The welders kind of an overkill but i do other welding jobs also. Right now i am swamped with work, 2 bridges to be installed in Atlanta Ga and Charlotte in a few weeks plus some railing jobs. I am planning on the road trip installing them then a nice vacation at the ocean on the way home  ...BobBob WrightSalem, Ohio  Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun
Reply:Bob, you've hit on the magic formula: doing something you obviously really enjoy, that gets you out and about, and from which you can make money. Lucky man.Great idea, by the way, to get train sets off the floor.
Reply:Hey Bob, Great work man, and I have a question. Do you do your own powder coating? I ask because I am  small job shop where we do machine shop work and fabrication work also and I'd love to get into powder coating some of our stuff. The problem is our stuff runs in size from about the size of your hand maybe to as big as pontoon trailers. So you can see building an "oven room" that large is out of our price range. What I'm doing a bad job of asking is, is there any other way for us to cure this paint without having to put the stuff in a oven type room? Thanks for any help,,,,,Chuck
Reply:Way to cool. Beautiful work. I wish I hand the steady hand and patients you have. Keep up the great work.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Chuck, I don't do my own powder coating for a few reasons. #1 I don't have time, i work full time plus drive 80 miles t/f work. #2 I can write off the expense of having it done, plus its on my way to work. #3 I used to build the ovens when i was a sheetmetal worker and the oven i wanted was 26 grand or more, i also wanted to do truck frame size parts. I figured if i was going to go thru the expense i may as well have the biggest oven. But to do it right the parts should be dipped in a heated cleaner and then a Phosphous (sp) coating. And i just don't have the room for all that equipment. You can dry the powder with heat lamps or a portable heater, my buddy did a harley frame with pretty good results. But by the time he bought all the stuff i could of had it done for 50 bucks. There are lots of good build it yourself oven sites try google and i will try to find a link from another forum....BobBob WrightSalem, Ohio  Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun
