Well for anyone who checked out this thread I started regarding a stainless pump housing repair......http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=10469.......... I want to post an update that the repair I posted DID NOT HOLD. The silver braze had a very poor bond even though it appeared to flow into the joint nicely.... I know that cast stainless is a hard material to braze partly due to it's poor wetting action and what not. So I really wasn't surprised to see the poor bond.So what did I do? I couldn't get any cast stainless rods in any reasonable time frame so I used Harris NW99. A little pre - heat, weld it up and controled the rate of cooling. Seems to have done the trick......... Time will tell but I feel confident that It won't be back._________________Chris
