i've got a miller250 syncrowave and when i press the foot pedal i get 100% of the set amperage. do i have my machine set wrong? do i have a pedal that doesn't do that? just got this machine up and running a month or so ago. i've been using it as is, but would like the ability to control the amperage with my foot pedal like im used to. any suggestions? thanks for any help!
Reply:Hello Rambleonthruthefog, do you have the selector switch for the amperage control set to remote? Or, if this is a newer machine you need to make sure that the push button control is set to "tig", amperage is set to "remote", contactor is set to "remote", and the hi-frequency is set according to the material you are welding on, likely "constant" if you're welding aluminum/magnesium, or "start only" is you're welding on basically any other metal. Best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:Is the unit new, or used? If the controls are set properly and it's used, I'd start by checking the wiring connections to the foot control; if it's new, I'd report the problem to the seller.
Reply:i had the same problem when i started tigging with my ta185. there is probably a "panel/remote" switch which you have set on panel.
Reply:Had a similar problem with a miller xmt 350, ended up being an issue with the pedal's internal workings. Be sure to check the pins in the coupler as well and the female port on the box as well. I don't know yet how the pedal works but I believe its the same principal as the old slot car controller guns sliding a bar across a coil of sorts with decreasing resistance ( please correct me if I'm wrong ).
Reply:If you've checked the switch to be sure it's in the "remote" position, check your foot control.Either you're pins are slightly pulled out of socket and touching in the strain relief or the potentiometer in the pedal is bad.CWI, CWE, CST for Miller, Lincoln, Thermadyne, Hypertherm & ESABMillermatic 350PLincoln Invertec 205 AC/DCVictor combo torchESAB PCM 1125
