I'm building a subframe for a trailer, out of 3x3x1/8 square tube.  I plan to cap the ends.   I am assuming it's best to drill drain/weep holes in the bottom of the tube.  How big, and how many?  There are 3 pieces, each about 65 inches long, capped at each end.  I'm thinking like a 1/4" hole near each end??  Bigger?  Smaller?  Just one hole? Thanks
Reply:I would put a few top and bottom so moisture will evaporate and not rust it from the inside out..holes on the bottom will drain but I wouldnt trust it for the moisture to get out..I would also try a rustproof coating on the inside...
Reply:If you can weld it and be sure that it's sealed tight. I mean so that you could fill it with compressed air. Then don't put any. The oxygen trapped inside can only make a very small amount of rust, then it will stop. Of course if you drill holes for mounting accessories this plan is shot. If so, put em' where the low spots will be when it's parked.
