Talking to some guys the other day, and the topic of us constantly adjusting our heat with 6010 while in the booths at school, I dont see guys wandering back and forth to their welders on the job to make adjustments, unless they add lots of lead.I heard more than one guy mention they have seen inline regulators near the stinger, they said you crank the machine, and adjust heat at the stinger with this regulator contraption. Any truth to this? anybody actually own/use something like this?Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120
Reply:Miller and Lincoln both make remote controls that allow you to adjust your amps at a small box that you can put right next to you. If you were to take a Miller RHC-14 hand remote, traditionally used for Tig, you could easily attach it to your electrode holder for on/off functionality as well as amperage adjustment.CWI, CWE, CST for Miller, Lincoln, Thermadyne, Hypertherm & ESABMillermatic 350PLincoln Invertec 205 AC/DCVictor combo torchESAB PCM 1125
Reply:As you develope more skill the need to constantly adjust the machine will diminish. Also you can adjust your machine to work for two different rod. For example setting the machine to weld 1/8 7018 should also work for running 5/32 6010 so if the job 6010/7018 then you can use the two different size rods without having to readjust the machine.
Reply:That actually makes a lot of sense. I was whipping 6010 got a little bored and grabbed 7018, the heat seemed dead-nuts....Someday I will have the skill to work with what I got, but for now.....Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120

Reply:If you're set a little cold, increase the arc length. If you're set a little hot, keep the arc length short. These are ways you can compensate for settings at the machine that are a little off without hiking back to the machine to change the dial.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Change rod size to adjust heat as well, one up if its too hot, one down if its too cold.
Reply:It does exist, though I've never seen one in the flesh; let alone worked with it.Myking remote electrode holder |
