Reply:I'd say 160 amps is a lot of heat for 1/4" plate and 1/8 rod, that's what I'd say!

Reply:Looking good, verticle up is all about keeping the right rod angle.

Reply:I still think 160 is too hot even with the 200' cables
Reply:I was just messin' with ya.....It looks like you flipped it over before you took the picture.....That would make it look Vert-up instead of Vert-down.....I think the Vertical Down Drag looks pretty good for a procedure I've heard a lot of people say can't be done!..........(with 7018)Patrick
Reply:Wait... I take back my first post I'm not there doing the work I don't know what machine it is? or What other factors come into play If zap says 160 he should know he's doing the work not me
Reply:Vertical down with 7018 has an advantage, it's fast (you've got to stay ahead of the slag). It doesn't put as much heat into the metal as a vertical up. From an asthetics standpoint, my vertical down welds look better (exactly the same as my horizontal welds).
Reply:Here is a vertical up I did the other day after I got my new TB-302. Really smooth machine. 3/32 7018 @ 80 amps 1/4" plate. Attached Images |
