Finally got a syncro 200

Long story but I got a syncro 200 -- came in yesterday afternoon.  I enjoy TIG welding so I'm going to force myself to learn how to do it right -- lots of seat time.  From now until I get the hang of it, everything will be TIG'd.I like the welder and the quality of the accessories that came with it.  Here's some pics.First one is the machine set up.Next is a quick weld to try it out.Next is the same weld after hitting it with a 120 grit flap disk real quick.I also tried some aluminum and it does a nice job.  I was surprise at how much heat is required to get a puddle started but once it gets going, it does weld aluminum very nicely.I've got a long (long) way to go until I get what I'm looking for in terms of nice looking welds, but like I said I enjoy it and there's only one way to learn.  I've got to go to the next class in Mass.  Attached Images
Reply:nice I was looking but then fell into a used 180 syncro 300 cheaper than a new 200 and probley 300 or more in rod and consumables and 2 full tanks of argon to use and return to him. I couldn't pass it up but i am still getting the hang of it. Have only had maybe a half hour of seat time before hand but have spent probley 8 hours this week getting it down just with mild steel first.But congrats on the new machine.millermatic 210syncrowave 180 SDhypertherm 380craftsman buzzboxclarke drill press/bandsaw
Reply:Good score.  What are you using it for?I looked for a used machine locally but nobody is giving them up around here(which is a good sign I think).I plan to use mine mostly for orny . . . and to make some more fixtures for making orny . . . and to make some tools/clamps/etc. . . . and to make a hoist a buddy of mine wants so he can move stuff into his loft . . . and to make . . .  I have been using MIG a lot lately but it's time to learn some new tricks.
