Should i get certified?

Should i get certified? If so, what certs should i look into getting?  I MIG weld in all positions but vert up as well as welding pipe.  I really want to make a career out of welding but dont really know what direction i should take. any help would be greatly appreciated

Reply:From what you state it reads like you are only able to mig weld. What other skills do you have and how confident are you on your abilities to pass cert test?
Reply:I'm very confident with a MIG, i know how to stick and TIG but i haven't had much experience with it. I'm a production welder which i like but there isn't much money to be made. I'd like to get some kind of union work. any help is appreciated

Reply:Yes absolutely.In one of my plants we automatically paid more for certified welders.Another note, is that the nuclear power industry is expanding rapidly in the U.S. These will be high paying welding jobs for certified welders.ScottFab ManagerWelders360New guy.
