It's a project anyhow and I did use my oxy/acet. torch to do it.I needed a garden hose hanger and wasn't going to buy one from Walmart.  I hate plastic, so here's my alternative.  It's made in USA (by ME), but all the parts are from China.  Made from 1/2" copper pipe and fitting sweated together with solder.
Reply:Looks good! Reminds me of a stop sign and you'll never forget where your garden hose is at. John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:stick with the red - stop sign theme.
Reply:All that is only $7 worth of copper.  Wow.  Around here, if they were clear coated, then people would steel them and scrap them.
Reply:I Think you could do the same thing with half the material. Couldn't you just have the top half and get rid of the bottom half which doesn't really do anything?Meh...just thinking out loudIt looks like a good idea anyhow and you did a great job!!
Reply:Cool!  Make another stand and use an old truck rim for the hose......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Uhhhh.... I guess I'm the guy that's going to point out the obvious... your hose holder KINKS THE HOSE!  I sense  design/finance problem here.Hardware store holders in green-painted steel or natural look anodized aluminum cost under $7 and feature:a) large dimeter radius to support the hose - without kinking it, andb) have little material on the bottom - not needed. Some folks would just cut a old vehicle wheel in two and mount one half to the wall - instant hose holder.... two of them! Good Effort!Rick V

Reply:sorry dude but this design is unpractical and costly. I dont know a single idiot who would pay $25 bucks for one of those things! Might as well pound and old railroad pike in the wall and hang your hose on it. Steel a stop sign off a busy intersection, and post it above your hose. then at least you got kind of and antique looking hose holder.  and that neighbor who keeps taking your hose will read the sign. and if he cant read you can at least hope he gets in a wreck on his way to work.

Reply:and rick, how many times do you see those concrete lawn ornaments or birdbaths, wind chimes, etc etc.. for christ sake... None of that stuff is necessary but people buy it cause it makes them feel good.  At least this idea has a purpose.  So relax and wish him luck.  If he puts on there 'sturdy and hand made in usa', I gaurantee he will sell one.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
Reply:Rebeltait - that is a little harsh and with 4 posts what have you contributed to this forum besides degrading Road Warriors creation?  Before critisizing someone else's work, take a look at it from their perspective and how it makes each person unique.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I congradulate you on your creativity and workmanship.  Almost all projects that are dreamed up can be improved on.  One good idea always leads to another.  Keep up the good work.
Reply:I agree Riley. Current trends and cheap people want everything from Wal-Mart. The run-of-the-mill products from China because they are so cheap and plentiful. I, on the other hand, prefer something that is hand made, unique and gives each creator his personal signature...no matter what the expense.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Hahaha...no, it's not just you Dolittle. I was going to mention that's probably all he had or at least felt like digging up. Those little bottles at the store are pricey. Just fire up the mans torch - the big 'ol O/A! John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Man, you guys are getting so dang critical and cranky the higher the temps go.  I've got propane bottles all over the place but the torch I have takes about 30 seconds to get a joint hot enough to sweat.  THAT'S why I used the o/a torch.  Besides, it's way more manly than a sissy little propane torch flame!!
