Not sure if this belongs in this section, mod's please feel free to move if it's not.Originally I wanted to learn how to weld this summer and to top it off I was going to try to make a downpipe for my car. Since then I've come to the decision that at this time it's just not the best idea to purchase a welder and learn at this time. The good point to this is I can move ahead towards the project. I was wondering if there might be any members in the philadelphia area that might be setup to weld (mig or tig) stainless pipe, I believe specifically 304L 16 gauge. The downpipe isn't actually incredibly complicated I think there's only 2-3 bends. I'm actually going to purchase the pipe, fab it together, mark it and then bring it to be welded. Please pm me if you are interested. Thanks again,Sleepy
Reply:I'm about 4 hours North of you if you don't find anyone closer to help. There is always time to learn. Good luck and welcome to WeldingWeb!John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I'll do it if you can't find anyone else . . . and as long as you don't mind that I've never done an exhaust before. I'm in the middle of repairing a large SS water tank out of a yacht as well as a SS railing for the same.Whichever way you go with it, TIG is the way to do it.Oh and not to gloss over MicroZone's post -- he does it day-in-day-out so if you want it done right and look right, I'd send you to him. If you just want it done very local, I'd do it.Last edited by phila.renewal; 06-13-2007 at 08:46 AM.Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right.
