I'm doing a job that involves making some tight bends with copper flat bar. I don't have tooling small enough to do this with the brake so I came up with a die block set that works with our 75 ton bearing press. I had to fab tooling for two different offsets, the tooling I am posting pics of has an offset of 15/16", while the other copper strips pictured are ony offset a 1/4". I factored in the shrinkage and what not so all I need to do is place a precut piece into the die, squeeze it to shape and it fits perfect.... no trimming, no fussing. Here is a pic of the parts in place..... all the copper joints are brazed, and the bronze block to the copper flat bar joint is sliver brazed....Thanks for looking...._________________Chris

Reply:Hahaha, laughing at runchman. He had me at "inexpensive tooling", then he topped it with "copper". Very nice stuff Chris, glad to see you're still working as hard as ever. Nice TIG welds as well!John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Chris, you are a true fabricator. Nice looking work.  The one big thing that came to my mind is all the copper laying around, you must have security there. That must be one very pricey job. Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:Cool setup.  Its always neat to see someone make a deal like that.  Pretty elementary, but serves the need well.Lots of toys.
Reply:Give miller killer a cigar...... we have a winner!!!! The motor mounted to the top of the bar is for vibration to reduce the chance of bubbles being entrapped in the plating._________________Chris
