Here is just a little project that I started a couple of days ago,I wanted more room on my boat for standing on while bass fishing.I will cover this with a sheet of aluminum and then use anti skid strips all over. Attached ImagesLast edited by j.lwelding; 06-24-2007 at 07:20 PM.

Reply:well...any pics of the welds before they got ground? are you welding or riveting the anti skids? My Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3 4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!
Reply:I did try and take pics of welds before I ground them down, but camera wouldnt take good pick with flash distorting picture.I made this with 4043 rod but This week I should be getting my Millerspoolmatic that I ordered last Friday.I have turned down to many jobs that had to do with aluminum, so I figured why no treat myself to the spooling gun, easier to use than rod and more economical for customer, not to mention nicer welds. Now I will bid on more Aluminum work. Reply:I think an aluminum casting deck will be hot. Have you considered marine plywood? Also, you should go with the 5356 rod. Your frame work looks good. Consider drop in floor storage. I assume the casting deck will be a foot or so off the floor.Bill
Reply:where flip flops and cut weight the al isnt that bad if you get it wet every once in awhile just paint it im sure it cant get much hotter there than here(from 105-120 ) plywood is heavy and since i assume its a small boat al would probably be lighter and last longer and if it gets to hot you can put some hydro turf on it and be good350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:My B-I-L built a deck on his small boat kind of the same thing, but he made lids over each opening with drop in buckets/containersfor storage and bait wells, and it worked great. Give it a thought you never have enough storage on a boat.kraftymate
Reply:Yes, I will remain with the idea of the Aluminum floor vs plywood, mantainence free,Yes, i will may lids that open so that you can store stuff underneath and that you can lock up so that you don't have to unload boat all the time, you can leave certain things under lock and key for next trip. |
