Another kettle here. Notice this one needed new legs... the bottom was dragging the ground. So this time I was going to try the nickle rod as a filler with the flux cleaned off.Tapered the 5/8 solid and you get the idea with the 1/8 nickel rod used as a filler. Started out trying to just weld the 5/8 steel rod with ER 309 1/16th...not good ..Yeah too small ER 309..all I had at the time. Yes pics are blurry (Im getting there) well with slight hammer test you see what happnedSo then I grinded all down and started up ole faithfull mig and oxy/acel torches and stopped experimenting with the nickel using the tig BTW used RED 1/8 tungsten 130 amps (all I got w/that machine) My tig caculator calls for like nearlly 200amps give or take so Im hoping it was a lack of amps. Still learning tig method. Again achieved spray arc transfer w/ mig. This seems to work great w/ cast iron and mild steel w/ some preheat. Anyway thought I would share this one.Here are the end results weld it like you own it

Reply:Thanks JimTjrSome of my family from PA made some for me one time............."scrapple"I'll say its an aquired taste.........for sure ughhFolks that I know that use these kettles mostly down here use them for canning purposes as in Mason jar storage for winter. weld it like you own it
