Well fellas I got to take the car to the track two times in the last week to see how the solid rear conversion that some of you might recall I did to my vette.  This was the first time I ever welded anything substantial -went out and bought a MM210 and then a Syncro 200.  Might also add while motors/engine management systems I am very familiar with;suspension building was also new to me.  But over the years I paid attention and the results were near perfect for the first time out with the car.  Now so some of you can relate this is a 3450lb full corvette, power everything - windows, seats, mirros, stereo...and is a daily driver.  The motor has NO power adders and is a 434 CI motor that I built.  First run my father said I should take it easy, but how do you access if everything is going to be ok if you take it easy?  Sooner or later you have to let the girl eat so why not the first run.    I drove the car on the street for about 1 week so I knew it went straight even under hard acceleration etc.  You can let go of the steering wheel and run it balls wide open and it would go straight as an arrow - let me just tell you 150 comes up REAL quick and its scarey to be able to spin the tires forward from 70MPH!   First run it went a 1.41 60' time and [email protected] with some lowered shift points.  Last two runs it went 1.40 60' times at 10.4@ 128.XNow here is the funny part, I was running with my FULL exhaust on the car and the year before the car would run .2sec quicker with just the turndowns on it, so that would have put me at 10.2 sec.  And with my car I have to run 20+ gallons of fuel @8 lbs/gal so I am carrying 160lbs of unneeded weight.  Otherwise the car sucks air on the launches and the car bogs.  I have to keep it filled to the brim (common problem with these cars).  I plan to put either a sump in the existing tank or better yet a 20 gallon fuel cell so I can run with just a few gallons. At any rate the weather was nearing 3000 ft DA, so in the fall weather with the exhaust off and with some weight removal in the fuel area there is no reason the car should not go 9s all day long.  Plus I have not even begun to tune the suspension, but its working beautifully already.  But I am NEVER happy so there is room for improvement.  Best part of all I raced both days and never broke and after the first run it never even crossed my mind.MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!  Just don't tell the wife; otherwise she will wonder why I am working on it every night.  lolClick here to watch Vid1-62-89Click here to watch vid2-75Best Times with 434 Naturally Aspirated Vette60 - 1.261/8 -  6.37@ 107.25 MPH 1/4 - 10.08 & 134.9MPH1/4 - 9.60@144MPH

Reply:The motor is a 434 CI, Dart Block, M2 Race System heads (23 degree), super victor intake converted to fuel injection, DFI engine management system, solid roller, compression is 11.5:1, yes its a small block.  The "big hammer" is in the chevelle 555CI motor.   No nitrous or power adders.  Last year it was the quickest C4 corvette in the country with the stock independant rear suspension.  Problem was it broke quite frequently.   Next time out it will go 10.2s with the exhaust off....hopefully I can get out this weekend and do some testing with it.  Thanks for the comments.....Best Times with 434 Naturally Aspirated Vette60 - 1.261/8 -  6.37@ 107.25 MPH 1/4 - 10.08 & 134.9MPH1/4 - 9.60@144MPH

Reply:Fast car, the Diesel websight I frequent, along with a couple of guys in a Club I started, "SLAPS" , St. Louis Area Powerstrokes,  have some 11 and 12 second 7500 LB TRUCKS... not to take anything away from your 'Vett or Chevelle.. both very sweet rides, but those trucks are fun to watch smoke their way down the track!
