Reply:Okay, I'll bite. For the galvanized part, grind off the galv. coating and weld it up. Paint it with cold galv spray afterwards, and go fishing!!!And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:You can weld them without grinding the galvi off. The arc will burn off the galvi and dig into the base metal if you have enough current set at the machine. I use fluxcore wire and 6011 for welding galvanized and don't grind it off and it welds fine for general purpose stuff like fence and railing, etc.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:6010 should do it with no probs. are you sure its galvi and not alum or stainless? alot of people have a hard time figuring out what is what just by look. it happens

Reply:crank the amps and go to it, I use to grind the galvanized but found it didn't help much and I took in a ton of zinc dust from the grinding, It you have a fan , set it up and blow those fumes away from you. That is why I prefer to stick weld rather than mig."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400 |
