I need casters for a welding table/work bench. Can you give me ideas for something in the1,000 lb range for an inexpensive price? Lowes largest casters were only rated for around 330 lbs.Thanks

Reply:I plan on making the table approximately 4x6 with 2x2 square tubing. I will probably put a 3/8" top on it. I estimate the table will weigh between 500-1000 lbs. I don't plan on putting an additional 1000 lbs on top of the table, but I also don't want to build a nice work bench/table and have the casters fail. Your thoughts?

Reply:You probably want to look at casters with urethane wheels or steel/iron wheels. Plastic and rubber ones have a nasty tendency to get flat spots just sitting with a heavy load on them, even if they are used within their rated capacity.MSC, Graingers, Mcmaster Carr are good place to look for heavy industrial casters. Reply:Are you going to have a 2ton table? If not, and you table is going to weigh 1000 lbs total then your 330 casters are more than enough. 4x330=1320Have we all gone mad?

Reply:When I recently built a rack for holding rolls of paper ~1,500lbs a pop i went with these casters from northern tool (they are 1,000lb casters and the rack was built from 3x3x.25" tubing). Reply:1,000 lb bench, get at least a 5" caster made of steel. will roll easy and stand up. just bought a set from a local specialty caster shop.
