Another riding mower deck repair - UGH!

Yepper - another one. Seems the folks around here have a knack for breaking them. I think this one was previously repaired...or attempted to repair it by gobbing some molten SMAW sticks on it.  Initial clean and prep, see the bubble gum?Bracket cleaned, aligned and ends made straight:Final pic, all done, with a few gussets: I am "it" around here when it comes to mower decks. Reply:Microzone,  could have used you here yesterday. My neighbor was mowing his place with a big ole Rhino deck when he ran over something (those were his words) it snapped one of the 30 inch blades in half and tore a hole in the deck and ripped the trailing support wheel right off the hub. He tried to get me to weld the blade back together (not in this lifetime) but we managed to patch the deck and re-weld the hub back on the wheel.He still hasn't told me what he ran over, I can only imagine what it looks like.Michael
Reply:Hahaaaa, sounds like the same stuff here, " well i'm not sure what i ran over but  it made a loud noise so i stopped and looked down."  I guess it's anything that is laying on the ground at the moment...only Lord knows what that is. Reply:Looks like a nice repair job. In my experience though, life would be better for mower decks and drivetrains, if people picked up the things when they saw them and thought "I should pick that up before it ends up in the mower", instead of "I must pick that up before I forget about it, I'll do it in the morning" and then they forget it and use the mower to remind them where it was.
