The Fun Never Ends...

I got alot done today...First off was new bushings in a Caterpillar Planetary Drive unit..Unit..Just like before..."Keep it in the groove and don't make a mess out of it"...Had to do all three front and rear..Groove..Kinda down in a hole...Inside of the cover..Yuk..thats gotta go!..Time for the next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Well I cant put my wheels under this the way it is... Reply:Wouw, it seems amazing that you could weld in that hole with a TIG torch and be able to see...and get those welds!Is there a secret for this one? My Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3   4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!

Reply:Whats holding up the other end on the roller when its running on the lathe? Are you using a live center?One other question are you using a four jaw chuck?

Reply:Undercut is not always a problem.  Especially on a concave weld in a situation like that.  The only stresses on that weld are sheer forces.  If that was on any other pieces where it could be bent or pulled then an undercut would be the thinnest part of the material and that would be the weak point where a crack would start.  The undercutting doesn't make that piece thinner.  The cutting is into material unrelated to the weld.  That make sense at all?Granted a REAL GOOD TIG welder wouldn't cut it anyways.  j/k Zap, your welds are some of the best i've seen.   :P
