Reply:Did you do the intake? We'll wait for the exhaust when its done..Love the fit up... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:yes...hand built intake..except for the plenum base which is a cnc piece with lil velocity stacks milled in for flow...
Reply:The header looks nice, but that intake is SLICK. Is that comparable to what guys of your platform are running? I would be willing to bet you could fill a crate with orders if that was in front of the right Evo audience.Lots of toys.
Reply:Nice work..I like it! (Better get the 9/16" wrench out on the engine before start up.. )...zap!Last edited by zapster; 05-18-2007 at 09:37 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:where are you going to put the radiator?
Reply:otherside of the turbo...its a mini...
Reply:more progress.. welds on intake are kinda inconsistant..didnt wanna warp the thin stuff,an besides that there geting smoothed out so it can be polished.
Reply:nice manifolds ....is that system using a synchronic wastegate ?-Graham-Mechanical EngineerAutosport Mechanic/Fabricator
Reply:That turbo looks to be at a pretty steep angle, are you sure the oil will be able to drain properly?I like the wastegate position, never thought of that before.

Reply:Im in awe. What a cool looking turbo setup and engine. Reply:the turbo has a split housing, what we did is hole sawed 2 sperate holes...i welded the flange on,ported the holes out a bit bigger..then fit a splitter between the 2 that seals against the waste gate valve, that way they dont bleed over to each other. saving a little weight on puttin in a dual gate setup..Yes the turbo is at a steep angle, there is some question about draining issues, Forced Performance says we shouldnt have a prob, since its a ball bearing setup,so they dont require you dump oil into them, they have an oil restrictor you put in the inlet..but will see.. main reason for putting it that way was for maximum spool, being the exhaust come right out an down an hits the turbine wheel like *bam*.. also looks..i mean you dont see that every day..Turbo is capable of 750..were shooting for a solid 700 on c16.. i will definately take videos when we get it buttoned up an on the dyno!Last edited by Krypto; 05-24-2007 at 08:42 PM.
Reply:NICE!! i smell 9 second evo=)
Reply:There is only one word that can describe work like that .... SEXY ...
Reply:wow i've never seen a wastegate flange welded onto the turbine housing like that! good idea (as long as it will flow enough so boost doesn't spike!)Interesting 2-1 manifold ya got there...divided turbine housing I'm guessing?
Reply:3.5 ss tubing is hard to route in a car that wasnt designed for it..LOL
Reply:I know what you mean! Great job fitting it up!John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.comjust noticed the angle of the turbo, any concerns about oil leaks?with full intent and better sense to recognize what is false and part with it.
Reply:Not as of yet, Forced performance said it shouldnt be a problem..but if need be we have an oil pump on hand to plumb in.
Reply:wow very clean! "Ask not for whom the bone bones, it bones for thee" - Bender
Reply:Finally and update...... car is running great.. made 760AWH .. we decided to add a 75 shot DRY to give a small helping hand to the turbo for recvovery..its programmed to come on untill peak power is acheived..then cuts out..so from there out its all turbo! maxes out at 42PSI.. i will be getting final pics,an dyno videos tomorrow.. As of now i have a short road clip.. from a 50mph dig,in 3rd gear..we bury the 170mph speedo in 5th gear with 2500rpm left! the vid doesnt do the feeling of the power justice!NOTE: This is on a closed course!
Reply:Absolutely gorgeous work! And I think everyone says some words that need censored on their first trip past 150 mph...
Reply:Unbelievably Nice Work! Manifold is Aluminum? Where'd you come up with the design/specs to have the CNC work done? How'd you decide on 3.5" SS exhaust? Are you going to have the exhaust coated too?

Reply:Definately, the PTE cores are good stuff. I'm just a little concerned about the flow in/out. You gotta look at the laptop once in a while! John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:The end tanks aren't ideal for the high boost, high horsepower that this car will be pushing. We call it a high pressure drop design, inline flow. In other words, it doesn't use the entire core...it's a straight flow-through. You can calculate it's efficiency by using the IAT vs. ambient temperature, that's why I asked. An inefficient IC will cause heat soak and pressure drop. A small 7% loss on even a 350 or 400hp motor is a total of 25-30hp lost. On a 760whp car...53hp lost. Just trying to help. If you need ideas for a low pressure drop designed IC, let me know.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:DAMN, both of those videos were so sweet. What was the ballpark cost for this setup, if you don't me asking?Bad *** work. I'm very impressed.

Reply:Nice job on the car, but unless you were on the autobahn, which from what I see from the video you weren't, that was absolutely stupid to reach those speeds on a public road. Very irresponsible, to many idiots kill innocent people and themselves doing crap like that.Go to a track if you want to do that.
