If you look closely you can see the lags attaching the platform to the deck. The guy digging does landscaping.  It is slow around here for landscapers because of the historically hot, dry conditions. I hired him for the day.  He likes to dig, too--Just what I need.  He is a good guy.The stair was an easy build. It was primarily built with AC stick 6013 and 7014.  I tacked small stuff with mig.  However,  since I built it outside I decided to stick.  Mig is definitely the way to go, however. The treads were set while It was layed horizontal on a rotisseri.  It was erected for the placement of the balusters and cap.  The layed horizontal for final welding, cleaning, painting and transporting. All dimension were built to the maximum allowable by codes.  This was suggested by a aquaintance who has built several. I built the rails around the deck a couple of months ago.  The client didn't want to get a kit.  He just wanted a completed stair brought in and installed. Attached Images
Reply:Need ... more ... pics!   Neat.  But more pics -would- be nice.
Reply:how did you bend the railings on the stairs?
Reply:I rolled the rails with a homemade ring roller.  I then layed the part on the steps and twisted them until they touced each step.  I used a pipe wrench with an extra handle welded to the upper jaw for twisting.
