I have acquired some nickel stick welding rod's to fix my mates cast iron bbq a leg snapped off. My question is the rods I have got seem to have been in a moist environment, Do I have to dry them out? are they like 7018's? and if I do how long and what temp Cheers SteveCigweld Transmig 265seBoc 140amp StickBoss 200amp AC/DC TIGLincoln Electric Invertec V260-S
Reply:g'day steve. it would be a good idea to recondition them. i was told to cook the WIA supercast rods at about 150C for a couple of hours.
Reply:I would leave them over night to make sure. Low temps longer better than high temps shorter so don't get them too hot as the flux cracks as they dry out and then they don't weld too good.
Reply:Thanks Bob and Stamp Bob that what I was worried about I had an idea about what temp I was close to the mark but I was worried about exactly what you statedCigweld Transmig 265seBoc 140amp StickBoss 200amp AC/DC TIGLincoln Electric Invertec V260-S
