Another Cracked bucket

This bucket had been repaired before.  The previous repair had added a plate, but never opened up the original crack and welded it. Now the plates are cracking.Last edited by David R; 09-02-2007 at 08:26 AM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Dave, just a little friendly advice, but in my experience when one breaks thru both plates like that when I just gouged it out and welded it back it broke again.    I now take the old plate off weld the original piece and then put a new plate back on, and have yet to have a problem.  It could have been the situations I was dealing with, but just wanted to throw it out there.  Nice welding by the way. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Jackson,  Thank youI thought about moving the plate.  This is a light duty machine to say the least.  I doubt it will see 100 hours a year.It will probably see more snow than anything else.David  Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Looks good, David. I used to do stuff like that before I got out of it....I need to get more of it again. Around here, the septic guys beat on rock all day long. They break a lot of stuff.

Reply:Nice job,Dave. I wonder if the cause of the crack is the back of the bucket is hitting something on the lift arms as evidenced by the "mushroom" next to the tilt link pin on the left side? Reply:Nice welding bucket, I have one just like it, but I put beer in the middle, and caps between the bottles. Really is a smart idea though, I set the ground on fire with a stub once, metal bucket should prevent that.
