I had this winch lying around for a while and decided to make a mount for it. The riserit is sitting on allows room for the low hanging motor and worm drive. I have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to post a pic or two of my work. I'm not a pro just a hobbiest. I enjoy the metal work. Like the 4x4 stuff also.
Reply:Nice job! Clean and you worked the receiver in there too... BTW welcome to the board. That aint heat lightning in the neighborhood tonight...

Reply:Agreed, take your time making beads. Nicely arranged, very straight forward. Think you got enough winch? City of L.A. Reply:Nice work, and the Husky 10 is a great winch to have "just laying around"
Reply:Miller 185 75/25 mix .035 wire. I know my technique needs more practice. This is my first welding project in about 6 months. Starting to get a feel for it again and have a few more projects lined up this month. Thanks for the comments. The Husky was on the font of my Range Rover. It is one of the only things I kept. It is a great winch. Only fault is it is slow! But that is what you get with the worm drive.
Reply:Nice fab job. Shame about the whole "jeep" thing though Just teasing, I'm sure the winch will be able to pull it wherever you need to go
Reply:Well I have had 4 Jeeps and 4 Rovers in the last 10 years. There is alot of good and bad with both. Once i am done with the current Jeep Project I will most likely do a Rover Series III hybrid or buy a Defender. I really like the Topless Jeep But like the Uniqueness of the Land Rover.
Reply:Finished up the project today. Added a hoop that I bent up a while back just for fun.
Reply:Looks Good !!Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
Reply:Vertical down on those thick pieces of steel isn't the best way to do it. You don't get good penetration that way. Should go up.Looks good though, you may want to redo those vert-down welds. I like that mount a lot actually...I may have to build one for my Dodge.
Reply:Actually there are 2 passes all the way around those. I put a pretty good bevel on the edges before Welding.
Reply:In a structural application you would be correct. BUT, for it's intended purpose I think it's plenty stout and will outlast the framerails.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
