I used to work on industrial batteries from forklifts.  This is what we used to pull the individual cells out.  Its a handy tool.This was an emergency brake for a ski lift.  handy as heck.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Its a 4 ton cylinder.  It pushed friction material against the bull wheel to stop the lift.  Kind like a bycycle brake.  Its great for pushing things together before welding.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Those modified vise grips are useful in autobody collision repair, too.  Although I've never seen such fancy rings.  I just ground a flat on heavy duty flat washers and welded on the adjusting knobs.  Not as nice as yours but they serve the same purpose.WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!
