Need Some Advice

I recently got my hands on two lengths of schedule 40 6" pipe; I am planning on making pipe coupons out of them to get back on top of my pipe welding.I'm going to cut them into 3" to 4" segments which will leave me with about 150 edges to be bevelled.My question is is it worth while going to a machine shop to get them bevelled or is that out of the question cost wise? Reply:If you are going to use a machine shop. The best deal would be to find a larger CNC shop, give them the full lengths. They can load the full length and progam the machine to cut what ever lengths and bevel the ends as one process. Reply:uhh also here there are some very friendly votech teachers that have students that need to learn to use beveling machines? might be a option. there usually pretty kewl bout stuff like that. slower sometimes but good for u and the kids.
Reply:My vote is to bevel them your self. Some will be great, some not so great. You will need to learn how to deal with both. Also, they should be 6 to 10 inches, it will make them easier to cut apart and re-use.Good luckUA Local 598
