Reply:Larger tanks are usually leased by the LWS, and if you take it to their shop for a refill or hydro test, they will confiscate their property, If you have competing LWS, they wont touch somebody elses tanks as a general rule. Either way, if you bought em and they are out of date, you can either return them to their owners and suffer the loss financially or turn em into a gong or martin house, Using them for work is pretty unlikely, depending on your LWS and the conditions you came to have them under. Sorry, but thats the rude reality of larger tanks roaming around in the welding community. Large leased tanks are frequently "misplaced" and the rightfull owner will avail himself of the opportunity to recover his goods. If the situation is other than that make sure you have a good bill of sale and try your luck. Hope it works out good for ya.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:Ship them to me, that's the best thing to do........200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:Check locally, but I'd guess Rbeckett is right about them being leased cylinders. There's always the possibility that they might be customer owned, or from a defunct private company. I've got several that were from a private welding supply that closed and the cyl were sold off. I can only get them filled at one or two places however. One thing that can be done is to open an account with the LWS whose cyl they are. Then you just exchange the "old" cylinders for "new" ones. The counter guy at my LWS wasn't real particular about what cyl I exchanged as long as I had one and as long as I had a good current account. I swapped several of my customer owned cyl for theirs that way no problem..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:my local welding store will swap them for another size tank, or co2 or o2 or argon. You may have to pay to get them tested. Find a small welding store and talk to them.
