Any help would be appreciated. I have a jackson eqc professional variable lens in a hsl 100 helmet. I'm getting spatter on the front of the auto lens. I have a new gasket around the clear lens. The only place that I can see for spatter to be getting in is around the back from the inside. The lady from jackson mine as well said your a liar with the way she laughed at me and said ok lets be truthful.Told them I was'nt expecting a replacement just wanted the problem fixed. It's still got about 8 months warranty left.
Reply:I have a few HSL 100 hoods with fixed lenses and 2 EQC Pro Variable lenses, as well as a few Halo-X hoods and a 3N1 Executive lens. I've been using Jackson hoods and lenses for several years. First, are you using a 4x5 cover lens on the outside and a 2x4 cover lens on the inside? The outside cover lens installs into the groove in the rubber gasket. Be sure to clean out the groove when installing a new cover lens. Also clean off the outside of the gasket and inside of the hood where the gasket fits. Then the auto lens installs into the hood with the slots in the upper edge of the lense mating with the tangs in the hood. Then the pull latches on each side of the lens fit into the slots on each side of the hood. The inside cover lens slips under the two upper tangs on the inside of the auto lens and the snap latch at the bottom inside of the auto lens holds the inside cover lens in place. The inside cover lens can shift from side to side, you have to check it once in a while to be sure it isn't exposing one end of the inside of the auto lens. You can put a very thin bead of silicone RTV gasket sealer around the inside of the inner cover lens to help keep it in place and seal out dust from the inner auto lens.Unless you have spatter melting through the cover lens(es), you shouldn't have anything getting on the auto lens if it is all installed properly.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:ive seen several guys including myself add a hood bib also to keep junk from coming into the hood. its not perfect but it helps.
Reply:I use hood bibs. They work for keeping the sun out of the back of the hood and berries off the top of the head too.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Thanks for the help. Brought my helmet home the other day and tested it. turned the lights off in the kitchen and shined a flashlight from the inside and seen light coming around both sides of the gasket. I mailed it off to Jackson Friday.
Reply:Bought the eqc 3n1 july 2nd, replaced the headgear and AGAIN the knob in back is rotating ccw. The take-up seems to only pull one side of the lid and now the knob is again headed towards my left ear.Gave up, went to a 9100x Speedglas. That lid is like some late nite commmerrcials, you don't even know it's on.
Reply:That's wierd, I have 3 different Jackson headgear styles. Oldest style I have here is from late 80's and early 90's, I have 2 of these if I remember right. Next style is from late 90's and 2000's, model 270 I believe, I have 2 or 3 of these. Newest is the 370 style, which came out in 2009 I think, have 3 of them. I been using all these headgear over several years (except the newest ones) and I never have a problem with rear knob on any of the headgear coming loose. You're talking about the big knob in the back that adjusts the diameter of the headgear band for larger/smaller heads, right? Never had one come loose on it's own on any of the Jackson headgear styles I have here. The only knobs that come loose for me are the ones that adjust the flip-down tension, on each side of the hood. I put teflon tape on the threads and that keeps them in place better.Last edited by DesertRider33; 08-29-2010 at 09:56 AM.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
