is the cord to the welding gun make a differance in your quality of welds?
Reply:Cord? Are you referring to the wire fill or the gun cable?Me!
Reply:no, I use a stick welder im talking aout from the welding to the electrode holder the runs the curent same with the ground.
Reply:I have 200' stinger and ground on my machine everyday, and it is fine. I have run well over 700' with out a problem, just adjust your amps acordingly.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:ok, i heard that it can screw up a good weld but thats good to know!!
Reply:WOW, that's a long distance. That would be fun at the end of day to gather up.
Reply:700' _is_ a lot. hmm. A lot of $$ too! I've ran a max of about 400'. Welded fine.[edit] I have ran over 700' before, but I didn't string it out or roll it back up. It was at a Coal Fired Power Plant exhaust stack about 497' 11" in the air, and the welder wasn't right at the base, it was out a ways. Was too unsafe to fly a 1,000lb welder onto a constantly moving concrete slip-form.
