I have a Hobart 87. It probably is just my in-experience but every so often and to many times I have to stop and clean a metal clog out of the tip. I use Co2 at 20 Psi. Is it the angle I am holding the tip? Wire speed wrong? My bead looks ok. I was welding chain link fence pipe. Its1/8" wall pipe. Set on #6 with a wire speed of 30. (Any faster with the wire speed it just globs). Penetration is excellent. What do you think?Embrace theTea Party movement. Congress! Restore, Honor, and abide by the Constitution of the United States of America.

Reply:Nozzle dip and welding/MIG pliers.  Stick the plier tips into the nozzle, twist to scrape out the crud, redip, done.  Sometimes you have to take the nozzle off first. The pliers are also handy for snipping the wire, putting on and taking off contact tips, and so forth.    One of the better things I found to have around for wire welding, and usually reasonable at like $10 or so.btw, you are probably using CO2 at 20 cfh (cubic feet per hour), not 20 psi.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:Originally Posted by RojodiabloGalv. is dirty stuff, and the spatter will eventually build up. You can also pick up globs that will blow off the weld occasionally, and it will jam up in the gun. I use nozzle dip, I will dunk the tip to keep the spatter at least wet and not sticking to the nozzle. I clean it with a narrow scredriver; it works pretty well.

Reply:weld-aid makes some sprays that work pretty well also. 007030 is the part number from the one i like. seems to stick to the nozzle for longer than the nozzle dip for me. but they both work great for the clog problem.
