Finally got this done. Since we bought this place the wife didn't like it because the slider wasn't centered on the back porch.Someone before us replaced the hinged door. I used the recycled Yamaha shipping crates for rails and uprights and had to buy the metal for ballusters(sp). the reason for the large space under ballusters is for snow removal w/ shovel/broom.   Used "Trek" wood for decking.IMO it's the only way to go for decking that needs no maintenance. Also had to build the little extension for the dog door.                              MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:Great job on the extension and railings, the doggie door extension is a nice touch. Like David R said " Nice job, especially using recycled steel". DaveI am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!
Reply:Thanks, guys. The first two pics were for the "before" view. Those Yamaha shipping crates have saved us a lot of $$$. I've built a lot of different things w/ the tubing. A lot of you probably wouldn't waste time w/ it because it requires a lot of cleaning w/ a cup brush and then I coat it w/ NAPA rust treatment as a primer. Being semi retired I have more time than money so I don't mind doing the cleanup!!!                       MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Excellent work ! Like others have said, it takes ingenuity and imagination when you are basically working with what to most would be considered scrap . Good show...Did it get the wife off your back ?

Reply:MLA2OFus,I'm sorry to have upset your 11lb dog.  I wonder if he would like to discuss it over a bowl of vittles with my 21 lb Orange Tiger Stripe Tabby.  He's not fat either   MichaelMillermatic 25115" Rockwell Drill Press10" Logan Lathe5hp - 2-stage 80 Gallon CompressorHome Made Sand / Soda Blaster
