Hey yall...Well, lately ive been hauling alot of scrap from around the farm while waiting on the guy i bought a torch from, to get my torch together and get it to me... And im finally out of light stuff that fits in the back of a truck whole, so today i started on the big stuff. Since i committed to this torch a month ago, and dont have it yet, i went to see the guy today and told him i needed a torch, or my money back. So, he lent me his. Hes my one friends dad, and really busy, and, in a really nice rant of his the other day i overheard, really anal about dirty tips, and letting people use his torches who get crap stuck in the tip. So, i picked up the torch, tried to remember the five minute crash course i got from my welding instructor in cutting stuff this morning at school, and headed down to the barns. I managed to get the thing set up, lit, and cutting. I cut up an old cultivator, made up of 3/8 or so metal. It was really messy, really gloppy, but once i got cutting, it cut pretty good. Anyway, i was working away, when i hear a loud wooshing behind me. I jump up, kill the torch, and turn off the gas at the torch. Turns out his old school regulator that looks like a wwii era relic sprung a leak, killing my torch cutting fun for the night. And, remembering the rant, i decided that it would probably be a good idea to clean out this tip. Which went well until i managed to break off a really small tip cleaner in the really small holes in the tip. It doesn't look that good to me, and, before i go buy a new tip before i return this thing, is there any way to get these things out of here?? lol... And any other advice would be good... Thanks guys :-)

Reply:Heat the tip the wire is smaller it should melt out or soften or try heat in a vice then try blow it through with air
Reply:Tried all of the above on one occassion. Bit the bullet when nothing worked, and spent 18 bucks for a new tipLesson learned: Keep extra tips on handWorking with metal is costly, and this is one of the incidental costs."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/ |
