I havent heard anyone discuss run-in % when spraying. I've been practicing w/ .035 @ 250 amps, ( Hell of a blast when I pull the trigger ) @ 100 %. Welds look good w/ no splatter. Would less run-in soften the start or just cause problems.
Reply:WidetrackmenThats a good question. My run-in is set at 80 % and I don't notice a blast when I go to spray but I'll have to play with it and see if it makes much of  a differance. Spray sure is sweet with this machine.Cowboy
Reply:Widetrackman, dont see how it would hurt anything to try it, worse thing might be some burn-back. Not sure why this function exists- the coldest part of any mig weld is right at the start-why they give you a knob to turn... that only makes it worse is beyond me By the way where are the pictures? It would be real cool if somebody with a MM251 would put some up-getting  real old looking at my own spray pics.Just keep layin down the molten-metal my friend "after a long day of doing nothing...its gooood to kick back" Pumbaa

Reply:Planet X,  Wife gave me a digital camera for Xmas, and still not sure if I can operate it Ha Ha and then theres the problem of how to post, Hell this old fart is lucky to make this computer operate, but I promise some pictures will come. Im cutting material for a David H's plasma cart for My new Hypertherm 1000 ( which I aint quite figured out ) as well a 1000# welding table> As you can see my tiny brain is being over loaded with technology but Im a coming.
Reply:Originally posted by widetrackman Cowboy, Iam justing getting started w/ spray, it is sweet, but I have a problem. When I finish the weld the last 1/2 in. is dished  out ( about 2/3 of the prior bead height ). I am almost sure its me but dont know how to solve the problem. I dont think Im pulling back. Any suggestions appreciated
Reply:Planet X, I will post some as soon as my girlfriends camera shows up.Let's see how about some .045 with some 86/14?If you want to see a instant start, the Mk inverter is my favorite spray rig.The Hobart feeder has a fast, and slow run in switch, and the inverter could care less what setting it's on.I do get more fun out of trying to get my new 160 mig to spray with .030 with 86/14.It is about like you 251 guys trying to spray with .045,and 86/14.
