This is my first time posting pictures of one of my projects. I should have taken them from the beginning, but didn't. My pictures aren't very good either. I'm new to digital. The project bike is a '71 Yamaha XS 650, which I narrowed the rear section of the frame so a MX250 seat will fit. I have a lot of work to do yet.The pipe is made from 1.5" 304L stainless. It was welded with a Lincoln Precision TIG 225, no pulse, 35-40 amps. Some welds are done with filler and some without, according to my mood.
Reply:Looks nice, it would be too loud for me to drive.Did you take the alternator off?DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thanks. This bike is being built for AHRMA, Sportsman Open Twin mx. Most racers just use the stock headpipes, but I wanted something different. It ain't gonna make me any faster, but I'm happy with it so far.I will make a silencer for it when I finish my slip roll, in January, when I get back from sea. The engine that's in it is locked up, and I have the rotor/stator removed. I have several other motors, and a few more bikes. |
