I notice Paychk has a MM200 as well, with the Spool gun.Where is the 14 pin connector for the spool gun?  (I'm going to feel stupid, here it comes, I know it....   )  I have a 4 pin jack that says Spoolmatic on it.... but according to the manual, I should have a 14?Also, I was told that the older Spoolmatic guns are no longer available, and that I would need the 14 pin connector to run the wire feed control neccessary for the newer 3035 type guns. Finally, do you know of a source of Spoolmatic guns that fit this welder the way the older Spoolmatics do?  I.e., old spoolmatic 3 guns? Reply:you need a converter, that plugs into the 4 pin and allows for the spoolgun. I have the same machine, i'll get you the part number you need when I get to the shopKeep your stick on the ice

Reply:What manual are you refering too?  The MM200 is an older machine and was setup for the old Spoolmatic 1 gun (4 pin connector), the Spoolmatic 3 had a 14 pin connector and was listed for the other welders.  The manual I have for the MM200 lists the spoolmatic connector as 4 pin. I guess I'm confused about your confusion 8-)

Reply:Miller manuals are S/N specific, so I'd say you have a newer manual than your machine.  Mine has a publish date "Aug. 1983", "Form: OM-1303H", "Effective with serial No. JD700335" .  If you pull up just the MM200 with out a S/N it gives you the latest revision of the manual; "Mar. 1991", "Form: OM-1303P", "Effective with serial No. KA898403".  So do another search with the S/N and you'll get the correct manual. If you buy a spoolmatic III, I'm sure the miller guys could tell you if an adapter is available and if not how to wire one up.My Spoolmatic came with my welder when I bought it off Ebay.Last edited by Paychk; 02-23-2004 at 11:26 PM.

Reply:rusted, the connector you need to connect the MM200 to a spoolmatic is on page 6 of this PDF:http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/spec_sheets/M1-5.pdf

Reply:My miller guy says he's seen one man use aluminum in a long hose and he had a sawhorse made where the cable was level from the machine to the tip. good luck I had considered trying it, but bought a used spooler instead.CBT
Reply:I've heard of these guys but never tried the system.http://www.wirepropellant.com/productx.phpMay be worth a shot.Wes

Reply:Originally posted by rusted Ah HAH!  Thank you.I am seriously thinking off putting a teflon liner into my 12ft gun and trying it that way FIRST.  If I like it, I will simply get the longest gun I can for steel, and keep the shorty for aluminum.
Reply:Originally posted by Aaron What size aluminum wire are you planning to run?  I ran .030" wire in the factory (not teflon) liner on my 12' M25/MM251.  I had a few problems with birdsnesting, but it was always caused by burnback, when the wire sticks to the contact tip.I have since upgraded to a Miller C-4015 Roughneck (15' 400A gun).  I run 3/64" wire on the u-groove wheels.  I have never had a birdsnest using this setup.  I am not using a teflon liner.  In fact, my machine sits right behind my bench, so probably 8' of the 15' cable is coiled up on the machine or the floor when I'm running this.    I am able to weld 1/8" up to about 1/2" aluminum this way.  I tried 3/4" aluminum, but I didn't get the penetration I wanted.  This could be fixed with joint prep, I imagine.Anyway, I have no plans for a spoolgun anytime soon.  I would rather spend the money on a plasma cutte first.  While I am not familiar with the MM200, or it's drive roll setup, I have to believe it is comparable with the MM210/MM251 setup.  In which case, I don't think you'll have too many problems if you change to a larger wire diameter.
Reply:Just make certain it will fit thru your gun's liner.  My MM251's standard gun/liner will not handle the 3/64" without changing the liner.  My Roughneck gun will with no problems.  I also found out they make a contact tip for the 3/64" wire that you should use instead of the 3/64" tip.  It's about .052" I think, a little larger than the 3/64" (.047").
