Heres some more recent pictures of my mustang. I just about finished my cage.  I made this little bracket that easily unbolts for my fuel cell.   I like how it turned out, its pretty solid and lightweight so thats a good. Since this fuel cell isnt "deep" enough I need to make some sheetmetal to surround where theres a gap, I have figured out how to do this. I am not too good with sheetmetal. I cant wait to get this car going, I have most of my brakes figured out, 9" 3.70's spool for now I will see how I like it. I have driven a spooled car on the track and it really isnt bad and is very easy to predict. Ill get some more pics when she gets closer. Motor is at the machine shop now (a screamin 289). I got a bit carried away with the paint because I forgot to finish the passenger side bars. I am using 6011 and 7018 for the cage. My mig hasnt been working out for me so I decided to finish it with my stick welder.

Reply:Its a full spool. Mini spool dopes the same thing just isnt very strong. I wouldnt say anything is going to snap because my dads car has a spool and has had one since the 70's. Now its got a pretty nasty 302 in it. Hangs with all the cheater motors
Reply:Spool???? they cost money, we use to use a "Lincoln Locker"  on our off roaders, when it broke we just re welded the spider gearsDisclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Ender heres a better question have you ever driven a car with a spool on a road course?? Its not as bad as you think it is, Its easier on parts than a locker and its more predictable. Most of the time a locker is locked up on the track anyways! A gold trac really is the only way to go but for 700 bucks its not worth it to me.
Reply:Think about the shock loading on the axleshafts during lockup on a ratchet type locker. Its much harder than say a spool which is locked up. On a ratchet type (detroit kind of locker) they can lock up coming out of a corner and send you for a ride, at least a spool is very predictable. You are right though there are much better options but its going to cost me about 700 more dollars! Ill stick with the spool for now and see how it works in my car

Reply:Yeah and you wheel too. I have a front and rear lincoln lock on my truck.
