Lincoln SP125+ question from rookie...

I was given a Lincoln SP125+ from my brother-in-law.  The machine is about 6 years old and appears to be well taken care of.  I have no MIG experience,  but have done some stick and O/A welding.My question is this:  Does this little MIG have the guts to weld 1" square tubing, say 1/8" thick?  I want to build up a couple of carts,  but don't want to waste the time and money on steel if this welder can't do it.I know the machine is now obsolete,  and compared to what everyone here has,  it's quite small.Just looking for opinions,  so don't be afraid to give yours !P.S.  I'm new to this forum,  and just want to say "Hi" to everyone.  I will be making additional posts,  as I'm quite sure I will have numerous questions.Thanks for your help.Jim MartinIndiana
Reply:It is a good machine and should weld as nice as any of them out now.I used one and thought it welded as nice a my little MM 130 XP. 1/8 inch it is really at the limit but it will do a good job with .023/.030 wire.Probably better with .023
Reply:We rented a Lincoln SP 125+ last month for a job that i couldn t reach with the larger machines. The machine was set up with an .030 solid wire and C-25. The arc quality was excellent and the machine was very easy to tune the arc in on. For non-critical welds on .120 wall square tube this machine will work. as Scott stated though this will be its max capability. A fluxcore wire might let you push non-critical work up to 3/16".
Reply:I ran one about a month ago welding 1/8 angle to GMC stamped running boards, and have to say the machine was workin it's a$$ off to do it.  IF the machine is properly fed with incoming power, it will probably do yourr tubing fine, although I'd run .023 and Co2 gas rather than C25 or fluxcore.WHEN properly set up the machine does a good job, within it's design parameters.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
