Reply:Looks like you are off to a great start.I'm glad to see that TIG pedal in there!  Only one way to get good at it and that's to do it -- on everything -- why not. Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right.

Reply:Hey Chris, I saw what you are doing. I have worked for different trailer builders companies around southern California. actually I do contract work for a  lunch trailer company. If you think I can help let me know. remember you need measures for your axle: center spring to center spring-hub face to hub fac. You need to find the center of your axle or axles. I didn't see any level process before welding,I do tack weld the whole trailer before welding. for the small trailer I would put the coupler ball center to 38" to 40" measuring starting at the front of trailer. just some hints.
Reply:I see lots of blue around there and you are even sporting a Miller shirt.  Might want to send a few of these to Miller and ask for sponsor money Lots of toys.
Reply:Looks good. Personally, I start my trailer builds upside down so I can more easily weld the leaf spring hangers and crossmembers. I throw a couple of 2x6 boards down as spacers so that when I apply the decking later it will be flush. Pretty expensive senior project, thats very cool.Bill
Reply:I think its great so far.I worked at a YALE forklift dealership when that model came out.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:It's kinda funny... Whenever I have a project like that, someone always wants it. (If there's a moral to this story If you make one... always make two. You can almost always sell the second one to pay for the first.Nice work so far. Keep posting pics of the progress! The best things in life all come on a stick!
Reply:is this going to be an 4'x8' trailer? I'm hoping to build one soon, like to see how yours turns out. keep the pics. coming. looking good for working in a tight area. keep it up
Reply:Here are some pics of the tung on the trailer.this is where I had to do 3 passes on the front and back of the tung tube. It was my fist time doing 3 passes with my mm135. Could of used alittle more heat but I think it came out alrightMillermatic 211 with 150 spool gunDynasty 350 Hypertherm powermax 30XP

Reply:Yes lol I had just got a job and was working at a fabrication shop full time so It was hard to work on it after work. the last thing I wanted to do was be around a welder when I got home. I dont know if thats bad or good. also The tig takes forever.Millermatic 211 with 150 spool gunDynasty 350 Hypertherm powermax 30XP

Reply:Man, that's looking good, I'm in the process on building a trailer myself, a 6' x 14' er, I sure wish some of my welds looked as good as yours, keep up the good work
Reply:That thing is awesome man.  As said earlier, I think the frame may be overdone, unless you're planning on loading it up with depleted uranium or some other insanely dense material.  Seriously though, lookin' good.  What the rating on that torsion axel?Contact me for any metal polishing needs you may have, my avatar is a pic of a standard, painted fire axe that I ground, sanded polished and buffed to a mirror finish.it's looking good so far... how heavy do yo think it weighs so far?Later,Andy
Reply:If only you had access to some tools and equipment Seriously - looks really good and well thought out - very clean job.

Reply:I think he estimated it weighing in at 1300lbs as it stands. The axle is a 3500 Lbs torsion is what he meant I believe. On another note, unless you're adding some SERIOUS weight I might just stick to that single axle... Taking quads out for some action at times you get in some pretty 'hairy' spots requiring tight turns and manueverability.... Ever watched the rear tires of a tandem axle horse trailer (or something like it) during a UTurn?? I think it'd be alot better with the one axle and honestly I dont know if you'd ever load up that axle to much w/ just four wheelers, even stacked one on top of another Great trailer man, you really did a wonderful job!
