I got a new bobcat 225 yesterday should have been a good time right? Not quite, I normally do biz. with a mom and pop shop here in town but they could or would not beat the price that the big national branch could offer. I get there and tell the guy what I want the bobcat no problem. But when I started talking about a suitcase mig for it , it all went down hill. He could not find the part #s and asked if I had access to the web and I could find them myself! You gotta be kidding, I went with a 3045 FC which is good the suitcase was really out of my price range any way. So i go to pick it up after set up and theirs big stickers on my machine three big logo stickers for that company. I just dropped 3700 bucks (including the mig) and I dont want there logos all over my machine, when i got home they came off fast. And also They put about two quarts of gas in it didnt even fill the tank. And i asked for a 60ft 40ft split on my cables i dont think they even got that right ill have to measure. So am I being over reactive or not would this stuff piss any of you off? I am happy to have the welder ive always wanted but i busted my butt to get it and i didnt need this grief. Ill stick to the mom and pop shops from now on.Last edited by wolfgangwelding; 05-01-2004 at 06:04 PM.no you cant fix it with a hot pass.BORN TO LOSE, LIVE TO WIN.
Reply:Over the years I've found that Welding salesmen as a whole aren't very knowlegeable. With Algore's internet you can do better research and get exactly what suites your needs. when I got my MM210, I download the manual from Miller. the same when I got a SGA 100C controller and 3035 spoolgun to do aluminum with my Lincoln ranger 8 I'll probably sell the controller someday, because I run the MM210 off the ranger. But I know if I get rid of it. I find out that someday I'll really need it. I tried a 3045FC. I liked it. It has the same M 25 gun as my MM210. I'm sure you got the gas solenoid with it.That was cheap of the dealer, even with the price of gas, they should have given a tank full.Last edited by fla jim; 05-01-2004 at 07:56 PM.

Reply:Sorry you got a bad taste there, Wolfgang. I know the feeling. Makes you wish you could just start all over? But from the sound of it, I guess there's nothing fatal about the deal except I hate spending that much hard earned cash for something I've pined for & have it get tainted that way.I think it all reflects the chain store/box store mentality, just like HoDePo. I guess that's about we'll have left in a few more years.I took my old cutting torch into Lubbock Welding Supply about a month ago to ask them to look it over because of its age. (I need to do a thread about it.) The oldest guy I have seen in there came up from the back, took one glance at it and, "My gosh, a National C-25a! Haven't seen one of those in 20 years." or something like that. He said he's been working there for the same manager for over 25 years and for a total of 46 years. I loved it. They are the Miller dealer. And I strongly suspect they are the reason this is Miller country.
Reply:wolfgangwelding,There is a dealer here in town that will stick their big ugly logo on a machine you buy, or at least they used to. I don't use that dealer anymore so I don't know if they still do. As far as the gas goes, well you got a better deal than me. NO GAS, NO AC weld output either. Your people might have checked yours out. Mine didn't.
Reply:Yes they put a multimeter on it sounds like you realy got it bad. Not good. Cutter again i agree mom and pop shops are the way to go.no you cant fix it with a hot pass.BORN TO LOSE, LIVE TO WIN. |
