I've been using my HH175 for the past several years to weld aluminum, mostly .097 1"x  and 1"x2"  sq. tubing with some 1/8 to 1/4 inch flat stock work thrown in for good measure. I now have a need to tig 4130 tubing. I will probably pop for a Thermal Arc 185, or possibly a Dynasty but I'll probably have to wait a few months.Cruising through the archives, I stumbled upon the DIY tig, a little crude, but very ingenous.  Anyway,  my question is this: What's to stop me from rigging say a 17V tig torch to my mig for some scratch DC work? Is the cv/cc issue a showstopper? Just thinking out loud.JimLast edited by bird-dog; 05-03-2004 at 09:52 AM.
Reply:Your 175 is CV (Constant voltage) Tig/stick is CC ( Constant current) you can adapt a stick welder for tig, but you're out of luck with the HH175, Sorry. Start saving your money.
Reply:I did it with an older 120 Handler, but the newer model of Handlers' don't seem to work.
