which tig welder is better

Am wondering which tig is better ?the lincoln tig 185 or miller tig 180. They are pretty close in price. Lee
Reply:I own an SD180. I also had the chance to use a PT 185 at a Lincoln Road Show. The Miller welds just as smooth as the Lincoln. The Lincoln has more features. I really like all the storage that they designed in it. The lincoln has a pulse feature. I guess its ok, but I'm not used to it, and didn't find it especially useful on a tig. I could do as good with the foot peddle.If you get the chance try them both and buy the one you like.Arguabley Miller has better customer service.
Reply:I have had my pt 185 for about 2 months now and I love it.  I bought the lincoln because of the pulse and low amperage stability. If you do get the Lincoln, the ready-pack with cart is a great investment. To be real honest, I dont use the pulse much at all. I guess it still might be a good thing to have. You can't really go wrong with either the miller or lincoln. My dad has used a Miller wire feed welder for about 5 years and it still works great. Good luck!

Then purchase the one that suits your needs or desires the best.............I've tried several and their are a multitude of good ones out there...............Let us know what you purchase and please tell us why your choice was the one you got........... Reply:I recently had the same question and researched both, I ended up with a Lincoln PT185.  According to the few shops I deal with that sell both brands the PT185 is the favorite by a big margin.  One shop owner told me that at the same price he couldn't recommend the Miller but if Miller would roll back the price so that you pay less money for less features it would be a great machine at a great price.
Reply:i just got back from lincoln (cleveland hq ) and had the chance to demo some new machines and already have use the p.t. 185,its nice, iwould say taht its a souped up version of the old 175...has the pulse, cleaning /penetration for ac and adjustable post flow.........and the niceties that jim had listed........ and as rock had said try them both out and see what you like.....cause 1500.00 is still 1500 bucks !dawg
