Reply:A long time ago we had a twin chamber oil burner on the farm, made from 2 45gal drums 1 sat on the other, the top one used to glow a dull orange when up to heat. It used to make a noise like a German Doodle Bug.  I think they work on the same principle as a Locheed (sp) Pulse Jet
