I was searching for info on the fabricator 250 and stumbled across this. (attachment) Anybody seen this or used one, also I am getting a used fabricator 250 and was wondering if anyone has been around them much. Are they any good? It is only rated to 250A, but it has a 50% duty cycle at that output, what do you think it is capable of. Any input would be helpful. Thank you, GeoffP.S. Dan, if you ever make it to NE Oregon(Pendleton), stop by. Then you could try out the T/A and show me a few things. Reply:I have no idea, but...I do have the owner's manual in .pdf if you want it. Let me know.PS: Did you enjoy your drive to Portland on Friday?:^)
Reply:The 3hr drive was nice, saw the sun in Portland (rare). Picked up the Fabricator 250 and brought it home. After cleaning all the grinding dust off of it, got to try it out for about 10-15 mins before I ran out of C25. Now I get to wait for my gas supplier to get me some 85/15. Had to special order it cause I live in the stix. Here are some pics of the 250.Thanks for the reply,Geoff Attached ImagesThanks, Geoff

Reply:For the short time I got to weld with it, I was very impressed. I think the stitch timer will turn out to be very handy. Lots of features for the price. Thanks, Geoff
Reply:Is that nail just for photo op or spool retainer ring optional? The innards (wiring) looks well thought out, can you get a closer shot?Since thermal arc is under the same corporate umbrella as Tweco, I'm wondering what gun they gave you from the factory?Anyway congrats on your machine by the way"after a long day of doing nothing...its gooood to kick back" Pumbaa
Reply:Planet X, The nail will be replaced tomorrow with the R-clip that is supposed to be there. The machine was a back up unit for a production facility and did not get much use. To tell you the truth, it was scary to see the facility I bought it from, the shop foreman let me try it out first and when I asked him where he usually sets it for the material he handed me, he said "just make it sound like bacon fryin". This is why I think he never knew how to set the machine. He has no idea of how nice of weld this machine can produce. It is sad to see. I believe the gun on it is a Tweco Spraymaster series, pretty nice and rugged I think. Also, what would you like to see as far as pictures go, anything specific? Thanks, Geoff
Reply:Those welders are very stable down low. About the only thing they could of improved on was the non driven drive rolls. I owned lots of machines and I would say that in arc quality Thermal is right there with anybody. Maybe better? Attached Images
Reply:A closer pic of the wire routing/circuit board would be interesting- just sorta like looking at that stuff."after a long day of doing nothing...its gooood to kick back" Pumbaa
Reply:Here are some more pics. Also, got some 85/15 today and tried spraying for the first time. As Tim Allen would say "Oh Oh Oh" I will try to do some SC and spray samples tomorrow and post the pics. It is a very user friendly machine. Attached ImagesThanks, Geoff
