I just bought a bunch of welding stuff from an old timer. I'm now the proud owner of a Hobart TR 250 HF with the pedal, some stick welding cables and ends. And a Linde PWM-9 "needle arc welder" with the smallest torch I've ever seen. I figured I could maybe sell the Linde and get some of my money back and outfit the Hobart. But I don't know any thing about the Linde. The guy who sold it to me said that I could weld two razor blades together with it. I think it might be a plazma cutter/welder. It has a built in water tank and fittings for a shielding gas and "orface gas". I wanna get rid of it because it runs on 3 phase and it's almost as big as my car! What in the heck would you use a machine like this for? It looks like it was hardly used so it must be a special use welder, no?
Reply:sounds like some old tig welder..........? linde made some really great machines but the size can ruin it for you..good luck selling it and welcome the the zoo !brian
Reply:Shield gas AND oriface gas sounds like plasma welder. I have no idea what it's age is or what it is worth. I will make note that the catalogs of the major manufacturers don't seem to show plasma welding equipment anymore. Neat process. Saw it in school, never used it.
Reply:welcome to ww cant help with the welder but welcome anyhoo
Reply:I think the Linde is about 25 years old. I found a couple for sale. One for $4750 and the other for $7000 listed as a welder/cutter. I'd let mine go for a hell of a lot less. I figured that if I found the right person or company, I could either trade it or sell it and buy more Hobart stuff. Any one know about micro welding? That's kinda what a needle welder is for, right?
Reply:PAW temperatures run as high as 30,000 deg. F. It's primarily suited for thick sections welded in a single pass, but like TIG it can be dialed-down to do the razor blade thing. The most likely place to dispose of it would be e-bay.
Reply:Is a plasma welder similar in function to a laser welder?
Reply:I took some pics if anyone wants to see this thing that I'm talking about.http://glassaver.com |
