Just wanted to start things off by saying Hello, and Thanks. Im very impressed by the depth of knowledge and support offered here. Ive been poking around her for months, ever since I decided to pick up a MIG welder. This post includes a lot of Firsts. First post to your forum, First MIG welds for steel and aluminum, First project welding table, with the all important pictures. I have minimal experience welding, just hobby stuff.Equipment, so far:Small Oxy/Acetylene setPower MIG 180Spool Gun SP100Argon/80, TriMix/80, C25/40HF cutoff sawThe welding table is 3/8 x 30 x 20 a was designed to fit on top of the stand for my Tile saw. I welded a couple of 1/8 x 1 straps on the side to keep it from moving around. These were my first MIG welds, not counting half a dozen beads to dial it in. The aluminum cutoff saw jig was inspired by one of the posts here, great idea. That was also the first time Ive tried welding aluminum with a spool gun, very cool. The first bead was a little shaky, but the second looked much better. Looking forward to the posts.Happy New Year, BogieThe rest of the pics in second post Attached Images

Reply:Welcome aboard, let the fun begin....you caught the welding bug too!If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Looks good, welcome! In the last picture in your last post.. be sure to get the bead going when you start.... then pull the bead onto both pieces before moving forward. You can see that it isn't into the bottom piece until you're forward in the bead a good inch or so.Never seen an aluminum welding table.... have fun!KRS***************************************Lincoln AC225 stick welderLincoln HD100 WeldPak flux core wire feed welderThree of the cheapest grinders money can buy |
