What is the smallest MIG I can weld aluminum with>?
Reply:mm135 can be used to weld aluminum, you most likely will need to purchase a conversion kit from you dealer though, and a tank of pure argon as wellStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:I'd reccommend against outfitting a 135-amp welder for Al.  The best you'll be able to weld is 1/8", and for the MM135, you need the SGA-100 controller and a 3035 spoolgun, which will set you back around $500 all together. The smaller Hobarts will feed aluminum, but you are still stuck with 1/8" max.I'd be looking at a 200-amp class machine.Be well.hank
Reply:You can with a teflon liner and a tank of argon, but it isnt going o do iut real well.  Guys do it all the time though.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:Everyone's needs are different and if you need to do occasional welding of light aluminum you can certainly use the HH135 with little investment.  A teflon liner is a good idea but I know guys who don't even use that.  For the price ($35.?) I think it is worth it.  An Argon gas cylinder is an absolute requirement.  Keep the hose to the gun as straight as possible.  You may want to use a contact tip that is one size larger to keep it from binding as the wire expands. ..and don't forget the aluminum wire!
