I know of only metal nozzles for mig. Why is it not common to see metal nozzle for tig? Is there any advantage to use metal nozzle for tig? Longevity, for example? When I tig weld in tight quarters with high current, I sometimes melt the edges of the alumina cup nozzle. Copper nozzle, having a lower melting point, 1088 vs 2052 degrees C, would seem more vulnerable. Is this correct?
Reply:wow, i've never had a tig nozzle melt on me, i have chipped one thoughStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:I've burned dozens of em'. A while back I was trying to git stainless with magnets behind the metal. The magnets would push my arc away and it would toast my nozzle. I've only used ceramic ones, I've never heard of any other kind of material.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. |
