Reply:I wouldn't do that. drill them that is. Drilling will only weaken them further. Also, you never know what you are drilling, something the metal is extremely hard and eats up drill bits. Pretty random material hardness.I use to buy those from King by the gross. I am not a fan of using them on terminal end posts of a handrail. I just think steel plates are better and you can cover them. I always felt the would break under appropriate side force. I have broken the during installation, forcing something plumb before welding. You mentioned tap screw. Are you trying match something? Also, be careful installing anchors through the shoe the hole break and a mis-hit with a hammer will break them.Perhaps, it would be worth making them if you calculate price with shipping. If you are not tied to getting those, then you can purchase square plate with 2 holes.
Reply:Thanks tap,I didnt think they were that weak. I guess i will look at some of the other options.Ya gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:How about some 1" flatbar, 1/8" thick, bent to an L or 90 gegree shape. Weld to your post and hilty down to anchor the bottom of the post?JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
