I just purchased a lincoln 100 wire feed. it is set up for argon and am wondering if any one has had much exsperience with the 100 or the 125 doing alum. or stainless with these units. I normally use my miller 180 synwave for alum and stainless, but got this little rig at a real bargin price. and thought it would be faster and quick to plug in any where as its 110 volts. I got three rolls of wire with it, alum and stainless, and flux core steel, regulator hose and liner, so it all there if it will do the job.one good deed is worth a thousand good intentions
Reply:All we can say here is "good luck" You already have a great machine for that work, that 100 is a step,,, several steps backwards. There is a reason you got it a bargain, the last guy got rid of it at half what he paid for it and you will likely be glad to get rid of it at half what you paid for it. That may sound a bit harsh but its the reality of it. The only real use for it might be body patch panels, running 023 and C25.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:i can do .125" aluminum with my sp135+. but as was said, you allready have a nice machine for aluminum. the 135 lays a bead fast, but getting to that point takes time = preheating. so, all-in-all, the 180 would be about as fast. unless you have a helper to preheat, and you have a lot of beads to lay. Reply:I bought the aluminum conversion kit with the teflon liner, but when I went to set it up, I found there was already a wire stuck in the liner and I can't get mine to feed in and push it out. I tried grabbinng it at the gun end of the liner and pulling it out, but it is so soft that I just get little pieces off the end. It is pretty much flush with the liner. Any ideas how I can get this out/ Or where I can get another liner? I don't want to buy the whole kit again, and I have some aluminum stuff I really need to weld. |
